HVAC students at Questar III’s Rensselaer Educational Center recently visited the Empire State Plaza in Albany to observe firsthand what’s needed to be part of the workforce charged with heating and cooling the plaza.
Teacher Danny Ramirez said students learned what is necessary to maintain the comfort and health of more than 10,000 state workers and other occupants.
Following the mechanical room tour, students visited the observation tower for a bird’s eye view of the mechanical units located on the rooftops of neighboring buildings as well as the skyline of Albany and Rensselaer counties.
Students later toured the 9/11 display at the New York State Museum, where they learned about the hazards that workers, residents, and rescue personnel faced at the site of the World Trade Center.
