Questar III hosted a workshop entitled “Unlearn the Past, Unleash the Future” for 50 local board members, superintendents and school business officials on Nov. 20. The program followed a series of weekend sessions held last year.
Senior Deputy Commissioner John King (pictured right) discussed how and why schools must be different in the next three to five years. Citing Race to the Top and other initiatives, King outlined ways school could restructure for future success.
Participants later worked together on an interactive activity designed to help schools think differently and to break down barriers to collaboration. Leaders identified possibilities for shared services, functional consolidation and issues that need to be addressed through a legislative reform agenda.
Questar III Director of State Aid Planning Michelle Levings and Assistant Superintendent Harry Hadjioannou presented information on the regional economic picture. Questar III Attorney Susan DiDonato and Norma Meacham, Esq. from Whiteman Osterman and Hanna ended the program with an update on Race to the Top and the Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR).
