Tracy MacGiffert, Questar III’s Universal Pre-K teacher at Cairo-Durham Elementary School, was named Teacher of the Month by 98.5 the Cat, a radio station serving the Hudson Valley, southern Capital District and Berkshire County.
A parent of one of Tracy’s students, Leila Bleau and her son Jason Bleau wrote the nomination letter resulting in Tracy winning the award. The letter and award were read on the Bob & Sheri Show on Dec. 22.
Bill Williams of the “The Cat” also visited Cairo Elementary School on Dec. 21 to honor Tracy. Surrounded by students, family and friends, Tracy received a plaque and gift certificates from Sawyer Chevrolet and Emurgent Care in Coxsackie.
Principal Karla McDowell said Tracy was a perfect choice for this award.
“Tracy creates lessons and pre-K units that are creative, imaginative and memorable. Her students love to come to school as they can’t wait to see what Mrs. MacGiffert has in store for them next. This love of learning is a key foundation as her students enter kindergarten, for they will continue to grow and thrive in education,” McDowell said.
Congratulations Tracy!
