Angelina Heidelmark was named a Vanguard FinalistQuestar III students Angelina Heidelmark (top right) and Stacey Lacitignola (bottom right) were recently named finalists for the Vanguard Student Recognition Award. The award is presented annually to selected high school students enrolled in enrolled in career and technical education (CTE) programs that prepare them for careers that are not traditional for their gender.

Heidelmark, a junior from Greenville High School, attends the Criminal Justice program at Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center in Hudson. Nominated by her instructor Ann Cioffi, Heidelmark is also a member of the Friends of Rachel club.

Stacey Lacitignola Lacitignola, a senior from Cairo-Durham High School, attends the Construction Technologies program at Columbia-Greene Educational Center. She was nominated by her instructor Bill Ebel.

Heidelmark and Lacitignola are two of 24 finalists across the state. They will now be asked to write an essay about the importance of nontraditional careers, and why they have chosen to pursue a nontraditional career.

Winners will be honored at a breakfast on March 25 at the Association of Career & Technical Education Administrators (ACTEA) annual conference in Albany.

The Vanguard Award is administered by the New York State Nontraditional Employment & Training (NET) Project.
