Questar III District Superintendent James N. Baldwin was honored by the Friendship Circle at its Extraordinary Friends and Heroes Event at the University at Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering on September 19.
The event recognized four community leaders for making a difference in the lives of children. Baldwin was honored for his “leadership and long-time advocacy of education reform and expanded opportunities for students.”
Janice Hite, a retired teacher, and Jamie Downs, a teacher at George Washington Academy, introduced Baldwin at the event.
Downs discussed how Baldwin’s leadership supported her work as a special education teacher at Questar III.
“Thanks to Jim’s leadership, there are heightened possibilities for my students and a focus on instruction and achievement,” Downs said.
The Friendship Circle is a not-for-profit organization that serves special needs children and their families and provides meaningful volunteer opportunities for teenagers after school and on the weekend.
