Questar III’s Rensselaer Educational Center held an Olympic Ceremony for the Special Education summer program.

Students marched to the national anthem wearing decorated t-shirts and waving signs and American flags in front of their family and friends who arrived to support the games.

Christian Pounds, junior master of ceremonies, used a Dynavox to help him speak and lead the excited crowd through the Pledge of Allegiance. The Mayor of Troy, Lou Rosamilia, came as a guest to speak with the students and participate in the ribbon-cutting with student, Nathan Maikels.

Students participated in numerous events including volleyball, discus, bowling, running and softball.

Principal Teresa Adalian-Gibson was happy to see the event come together. “This day would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our staff and the spirit of our students. We were proud and honored to share this day with the Mayor, parents, friends, families and Questar III administration,” she said.
