Questar III’s Adult Education programs are continuing to grow and expand their services to new locations. These new programs are responding to community needs and are located in areas that are more convenient to potential students.
Questar III’s Adult Literacy Facilitator, Pamela Mertz, is thrilled with the continued expansion of the adult education programs.
“It’s great that we have been able to bring these programs to the people who need them. We are making every effort to locate these programs in areas that are easily accessible to our target audience,” she said.
Summer GED classes at the Lansingburgh Library in Troy were very well received and they will continue through the year. An ESOL class was added to the schedule as well which makes it the first time Questar III will have a presence in the area for GED and ESOL classes.
Questar III will continue its collaboration with YWCA in Troy offering GED classes and will also begin GED classes in October at the Fallon Community Center. With the addition of these new classes, Questar III has positioned themselves in downtown, central and north Troy. All of these locations are situated on bus lines for convenient access.
GED classes have also begun at the East Greenbush Library and beginning in October the Cairo Library will also offer GED classes.
“Everyone we’ve partnered with has been supportive and enthusiastic about the service we’re providing to the community.” said Mertz.
Questar III’s Adult Education program will also begin an on-line GED program beginning September 24 to target students in remote areas without access to transportation. Potential students must show basic computer proficiency and have access to internet six hours per week.
