Ruth Russell, Questar III’s New Visions: Scientific Research and World Health teacher, was recently honored with Stanford University’s annual Teacher Tribute Initiative.
Members of Stanford’s incoming class were given the opportunity to acknowledge a former teacher or mentor who played a significant role in their intellectual, academic, social and personal development.
Jordan Bulich, a former student of Russell’s and a current freshman at Stanford, chose to honor Russell with the Teacher Tribute Initiative due to the outstanding influence Russell had on Bulich’s learning during her senior year of high school.
“Spending half the day with Mrs. Russell in such a small setting enhanced our relationship and the value of my learning experience as a senior. Although the program entailed a significant workload and tough assignments, it helped prepare me for college,” said Bulich.
Russell was greatly surprised by the award and felt sincerely honored.
“As educators, we care deeply about our students and want them to succeed to the best of their own abilities. It is gratifying to see our students go forth in the world and flourish at college and beyond. I am grateful for the recognition of my efforts and validation of my teaching style by such a prestigious university,” said Russell. “I am thankful to be part of an organization that promotes innovative educational opportunities. At Questar III, we truly put students first!”
