Matt Boston, a senior in Hospitality and Lodging at Questar III’s Rensselaer Educational Center (REC), has been offered jobs at Ramada Inn in Albany and The Century House in Latham after completing internships at both establishments.
Boston began his career at REC last year in the Introduction to Food Services program. He chose to continue his education in the Hospitality and Lodging program.
Boston feels his employers wanted to hire him for his dedication and enthusiasm.
“I like the smiles, happy vibes, teamwork and how everyone is committed to the job. We work together and help each other,” said Boston. “My teachers encourage me to stay positive and try my hardest. Everything I learned here helped me get to where I am today.”
Lisa Phegn has taught Boston for the past two years at REC.
“Matthew has all the professional attributes that are necessary for success in the world of hospitality. He is a shining example. Matthew is polite, helpful, courteous and hard working with an award winning smile,” said Phegn. “Matthew has been offered positions in all three of the hotels the Hospitality & Lodging class does their internships in.”
Boston hopes to attend college for business and become a manager or supervisor at a hotel in the future.
