What do you do at Questar III?
I am a communications specialist serving the Hudson City School District, Cairo-Durham Central School District, and Questar III. I perform website content management, social media management, public relations, and photography.
What attracted you to Questar III?
With a background in education policy, I know how important shared services are for our state and region. I wanted a job in which I could use my talents to make schools more efficient and effective at an affordable rate. I had heard that Questar III was a great place to work, and it has already exceeded my expectations.
What did you do prior to coming here?
I was working at the New York State Assembly in the office of Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan, chairwoman of the Education Committee. That position prepared me well for a career in education communications.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is interacting with students as I take their pictures or talk to them at school. I learn so much from them every day. Their liveliness and creativity inspire me to come up with fresh ideas for engaging the community. I recently became a mentor in the Hudson Reads program, in which I read with a fifth grader for one lunch period per week. My mentee’s stories about her family and friends remind me how important it is to keep families engaged in education.
What is something unique your co-workers may not know about you?
I love dancing—ballet, hip hop, country line. I might not be great at it, but it has always been a favorite pastime of mine.
