Thom Job (pronounced JOE-b) is Questar III’s web manager. Learn about his background and how he supports the BOCES and its districts.
Q: What is your role here at Questar III, and where do you work?
I am the Web Manager (or Webmaster, I am never quite sure) and I work in the Central Office. But since my role is to make certain that the website are up-and-running, I essentially work anywhere there is an Internet connection.
Q: How long have you worked here?
Just a few weeks. I started at the end of September.
Q: How do you see your role in supporting the BOCES and the school districts it supports?
I think that I will be able to help the districts better use their websites and overall web presence to attract new visitors and engage current users.
Q: What is your background like – previous jobs, your education, etc.?
I have been a web and graphic designer for 15+ years. I have most recently worked at WAMC Northeast Public Radio as a Communications and Marketing Manager and with Proctors in Schenectady.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
So far I like seeing how schools are using the web to interact with their communities, each in their own voice.
Q: Tell us a bit about your life outside of Questar III.
Outside of Questar III I live in Albany with my wife, our 2.5 year old daughter, two dogs, and two cats. I have been involved in the local poetry and spoken word community for over 20 years as a writer and performer. I currently run a literary organization named Albany Poets that hosts events and readings, publishes poets both in print and online, and runs after school workshops in Albany.
