This notice is to remind you that Safe Schools data for your district must be submitted to SED by October 15th.  All building-level Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) must be sent electronically through the NYSED business portal to allow for efficient distribution of school building-level ERPs to State Police statewide.  As you are aware, each school district/BOCES throughout NYS must update and submit their building-level ERP to both the State Police and local law enforcement within 30 days of adoption, but no later than October 15th.

Please note, the only change regarding this data submission is the process itself.  The content requirements and timeline for submitting this data remains the same as described in SED’s memo dated August 12, 2016, which can be found using the following link: http://p1232.nysed.gov/sss/documents/Memo_UpdateSafetyLegRegAug2016FINAL.pdf.  Once you submit the building-level ERP for your district via the online application, you will have fulfilled the requirement to submit the plan to the State Police.  However, for the 2017-18 school year, school officials must continue to share a copy with local law enforcement, as is currently the process.

Once all required information is entered, be certain to download a copy for your records.  School Building ERPs must be submitted by the Superintendent of each school/BOCES.  If you have questions or problems accessing the business portal or the SED Monitoring and Vendor Performance System, please contact the SEDDAS helpdesk at SEDDAS@nysed.gov or the office of Student Support Services at StudentSupportServices@nysed.gov .  If you have questions about the Building-Level Emergency Response Plan requirements, please contact info@safeschools.ny.gov.
