Each month we introduce you to a different staff member at Questar III. This month we meet Special Education Assistant Principal Meghan Platt.
What is your role here at Questar III, and where do you work?
My role at Questar III is Assistant Principal to both Andrew Pemrick and Danielle Remillard, which means that I will be working in Both Rensselaer Academy and George Washington School.
How do you see your role as supporting the BOCES and its students/districts?
My goal as the Assistant Principal is to support teaching and learning in each of the two schools. I see myself as becoming a go to person for students and staff, addressing the immediate needs of day.
What is your background like – previous jobs, education, etc.?
I began my career teaching health to student of all ages in grades K-12. Over the last 13 years I provided building leadership wearing many different hats all in the Neil Hellman School. I was the Principal for Elementary, Middle and High School programs.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role with Questar III?
I am truly looking forward to working with such a talented group of staff. They work tirelessly to bring out the best in each child. In my first few days I have been invited to participate in so many wonderful lesson and classroom activities!
Tell us a bit about your life outside of Questar III.
Outside the school day my time is spent being part of a very busy military family and mom of 2 teenagers boys (and 1 rescue puppy). We adventure throughout upstate NY hiking, biking, and kayaking. When I am not enjoying the outdoors I am cheering at wrestling matches, Boy Scout meetings or drivers education classes.
Spring is almost here – what is your favorite time of year and why?
Having grown up in Maryland, I enjoy all of the seasons, but living in NY makes me appreciate summer the most!
