The following message was sent to families in our Columbia-Greene Educational Center programs.

The purpose of this communication is to inform you of a positive COVID-19 case at Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center in Hudson. Last evening, we received notification that a staff member, who has not been physically present in the building since October 30, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Immediately upon receiving this information, we reached out to the Columbia County Department of Health for confirmation, as is the standard protocol. We have received confirmation of the positive test result from the county.

Per our cleaning protocols, identified spaces and high touch areas within the building are cleaned and disinfected every day we are in session. We will continue with our regular COVID cleaning protocols.

We encourage you to offer your full cooperation if you are contacted by a representative from Questar III, the county health department or the NYS Contact Tracing program.

If your child is identified as having been potentially exposed, they will be considered a contact to the positive individual. A representative of Questar III will contact you to advise that your child stay home and monitor for COVID symptoms and await to be contacted by the County Health Department.  If you are not contacted by Questar III or the County Health Department, there is no further action needed on your part.

While I understand that you may want additional details, privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information.

We ask all families to continue to follow all safety guidelines outside of school hours including wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing, proper hand hygiene and avoiding gatherings and travel to states with high positivity rates. We also remind you to please complete the daily health screening form for your child prior to the start of the school day.

Please continue to monitor yourself and your children for any symptoms of COVID and report any absences and positive COVID-19 test results to our office immediately. Symptoms vary, and some people may not experience any symptoms. Please contact your healthcare provider (or the county health department if you do not have one) to be assessed if you or your child have one or more of these new or worsening symptoms:

  • a temperature greater or equal to 100.0° F
  • feel feverish or have chills
  • cough
  • loss of taste or smell
  • fatigue
  • sore throat
  • shortness of breath
  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • muscle pain or body aches
  • headaches or nasal congestion/running nose

Thank you all for your ongoing efforts to keep our Columbia-Greene Educational Center and your child safe and healthy so that we may keep our schools open. Please contact me or COVID19@questar.org  directly with any questions or concerns.
