CGEC Friends of Rachel advisors Jo Adele Foster and Christine Block began the club four years ago and have since been participating in the Can Tab Drive.

Foster said, “This is an extraordinary group of students. We are pleased to be able to participate in this beneficial event and take pride in assisting our community.”

CGEC Friends of Rachel hold monthly meetings for over 50 student members to help organize the club’s many fundraising efforts.

In addition to collecting can tabs, the club also participates in Stand Up to Bully Day, Edith Casey Stocking Fund, food drives for local pantries, and planting flowers for Arbor Day.

The primary focus of Friends of Rachel is teaching tolerance within the school and community.  Foster explained, “We try to promote being a person of character with various acts of kindness, whether it’s holding a door for a classmate or handing out lollipops with quotes of kindness for Valentine’s Day.”
