Questar III’s Lakia Walker and Retiree Deena Pewtherer were recently named in the Columbia County Women’s Alliance list of 100 Women Making a Difference in Columbia County!
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote at the federal level, the Columbia County Women’s Alliance acknowledged 100 Women Making a Difference in Columbia County. Walker and Pewtherer were selected for their impact on our community through their passion, foresight, bravery and determination to make life better for their families and their neighbors.
Walker has been working for Questar III for 19 years and has worn a number of hats within the organization including job coach, 1:1 TA, coordinator for portfolios, school counselor and more. In addition to the important work Walker does here at Questar III, she is an active member of Rock Solid Church advocating for women needing shelter and aid from the community.
Pewtherer worked for Questar III as an administrative assistant at Catskill Academy for 10 years before retiring in 2015. Pewtherer has shared her expertise in technical theatrical production, actively working with Columbia County theater groups for many years. Currently, she is a leading member of a volunteer initiative in response to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Mighty Masketeers of Columbia County.
Congratulations to both Walker and Pewtherer for being selected for inclusion on this list of incredible women in Columbia County! Both do amazing work for our communities and students.
