Peg Danner-Frank was thrilled when she learned her high school students had been invited by The Arts Center of the Capital Region to be featured performers during Troy Night Out.
“It is so rewarding to see the students of New Visions: Visual & Performing Arts be recognized for their tremendous work and commitment in the areas of music, film and visual art,” said Danner-Frank.
Danner-Frank is an instructor for Questar III’s New Visions: Visual & Performing Arts program (NV: VAPA) and her high school students are getting the opportunity to share their talents during Troy Night Out on Friday, March 25, 2016. The inter-disciplinary showcase is titled On River Street.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. and continuing on a 10-minute rotating schedule, the Questar III students will be performing their music, showing their films and sharing some of their visual artwork in the Black Box Theatre, located inside The Arts Center on River Street

“My classmates and I are so excited to be able to share our talents with the community,” said Maddi St. John, a Questar III student from Tamarac High School. “Troy Night Out will provide us with the perfect forum to showcase our work and be part of the downtown arts culture.”
The show will also feature River Street, an anthem to Troy written by student Victoria Leonard and performed by the entire NV: VAPA class. Troy City School District is Leonard’s home district. The NV: VAPA Class of 2016 consists of students from many area school districts such as Averill Park, Catskill, Hoosic Valley, Ichabod Crane, Maple Hill, Tamarac and Troy.
The students should feel right at home at The Arts Center since they have performed at the venue before. On March 1st, the group held a CD release party at The Arts Center, which featured live performances of the original music from their CD River Street. Students, family and friends shared a celebratory cake that featured the cover art of the class CD.

The Questar III NV: VAPA students produced artwork for their original CD, River Street. The artwork on the cover (right) was a concept designed by Morgan Wright (Averill Park High School) and created by Collin Moore (Catskill High School) and Sanford Fels (Ichabod Crane High School). The artwork on the back cover (left) was created by Collin Moore.
“This is such an exciting opportunity, as Troy Night Out usually draws several hundred people to The Arts Center,” said Danner-Frank.
Troy Night Out is an arts and cultural event that occurs monthly, on the last Friday of each month from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Locals and visitors gather in Downtown Troy to experience live music and performances, art shows and dining.
