Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center hosted a college fair for students enrolled in career and technical education programs (CTE) on October 25. Seventeen colleges and technical schools met with junior and senior students to provide information about college admissions.
Attendees included: Alfred State, Bryant & Stratton, Columbia-Greene Community College, Dutchess Community College, Hudson Valley Community College, Lincoln Culinary Institute, Mildred Elley/Austin Beauty School, Morrisville State College, New England Culinary Institute, Paul Smith’s College, Schenectady County Community College, SUNY Canton, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Delhi, University of Northwestern Ohio, UTI and WyoTech.
Questar III Career Development Specialist Lynn Seftner, coordinator of the college fair, said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about post-secondary educational choices, and then be able to go right back to their classrooms to discuss their personal career goals with their CTE instructor, their advisors, or our school counselors.”
As part of the college fair experience, every student completes a college information form, which is a work-based learning activity for their professional portfolios.
Principal Jake Stomieroski added, “Our students are encouraged to continue their education after high school. With the articulation agreements between Questar III and many of the colleges represented at the college fair, our CTE students have the potential to earn career-related college credits while still in high school.”
