Students at CGEC supported the community through a number of service projects

From organizing food drives that support local families to collecting supplies for a former student located halfway around the world, students at Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center gave back this month.

For third year in a row, students in the Friends of Rachel club helped sponsor one of the oldest toy drives in Columbia County, the Edith Casey Stocking Fund. For the past 90 years, the Fund has provided toys to needy children during the holiday season.

SkillsUSA students organized a drive to support former student Jamie Lambert. Lambert, a carpentry graduate who also participated in SkillsUSA, is now serving in Afghanistan. Students collected supplies and money (to buy supplies) to support Jamie and his Army unit.

Students in the Business Information Systems/DECA club held its second annual fundraiser for the Columbia Greene Humane Society in Hudson. Additionally, students and staff organized a food drive. Donations will be used to make baskets for needy families in the community.
