Questar III recently appointed Danielle Remillard as principal of the Academy at Rensselaer Educational Center (REC) in Troy.
Remillard, who joined Questar III last September as the coordinator of behavioral interventions at Rensselaer Academy, will oversee this new special education program based at REC.
She says she looks forward to working with teachers and students and Anthony DeFazio, the long-time career and technical education (CTE) principal at REC.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to interact with their high school peers and to have the chance to participate in hands-on experiences,” she said.
The Academy at Rensselaer Educational Center serves high school Regents students with disabilities. One of the goals of the program is to allow students to attend CTE or Career Studies programs. Additionally, students will attend Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) classes that prepare them for the world of work.
In her role Remillard will also oversee social workers, psychologists and the Sarah’s Sisters program based at the Arts Center of the Capital Region.
Questar III Deputy Superintendent Matt Sloane said he is pleased to promote Remillard to this leadership position.

Prior to coming to Questar III Remillard worked as a school psychologist in Peru, NY.
She has a bachelor’s degree in history and psychology from Binghamton University, master’s degree in school psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh and a certificate of advanced graduate study in educational leadership from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
