Career and Technical Education students at Columbia-Greene and Rensselaer Educational Center had the chance this week to meet with admissions representatives from more than 20 colleges and the military. The annual college fair brings schools from across the Northeast to talk with students about their options and find a school that might be a good fit.
Students are checking out all their options, but some already have a shortlist.
“I want to also go for my RN, but I’m not really sure yet. I’m in between three colleges right now, Columbia-Greene, Hudson Valley and Sage. I was thinking about going to Hudson Valley for the two years and then transferring to Sage,” said Certified Nurse Assistant/Hudson CSD student Nazia Lauture.
Each student also has a list of questions about cost, sports and extracurricular activities, and admission requirements. Finding answers to those questions helps start conversations about the student’s goals, if they’re on track, and what they can do to better prepare for college.
One student says he knows what he’s looking for, and hopes to find it at the college fair.
“My biggest goal is to own my own salon. A college that could help me for example for business, how to take care of a business,” said Wenskarly Alice, Cosmetology student from Hudson CSD.
Questar III also has agreements with several colleges which allow students in CTE programs to earn college credit prior to graduation. To learn more about CTE programs and our college partners, visit our website.
