The K-9 unit from the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department visited George Washington School in Troy on Nov. 23. Students learned firsthand how dogs are an effective tool in law enforcement because of their natural instincts and abilities. K-9 trainers Deputy Sandra Blodgett and Deputy Mark Geracitano demonstrated suspect apprehension, officer protection, drug detection and bomb detection.
