Ken Twinam is Questar III’s Information Technology Manager

Each month, we feature a brief Q&A with one of our staff. This month, we meet Ken Twinam.

What is your role here at Questar III, and where do you work?
I am the Information Technology Manager and work out of the Central Office.

How long have you worked here?
Two months.

How do you see your role as supporting the BOCES and its school districts?
My role is to oversee and drive forward many of the larger strategic projects and goals that we are looking to undertake as a department and as an organization. I’m also striving to strengthen general communications between the IT department and the rest of the Questar III staff as it relates to these projects and goals.

What is your background like – previous jobs, education, etc.?
I was most recently the Chief Information Officer for a local law firm. Prior to that position I was the Systems Administrator for Audio-Video Corporation, who has partnered with Questar III many times in the past for our A/V room solutions. I graduated from SUNY Institute of Technology with a dual-bachelors in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

What do you like most about your job?
I really enjoy learning about how Questar III leverages technology as an organization and then using that knowledge to develop solutions for tackling technology-related issues and improving existing workflow processes.

Tell us a bit about your life outside of Questar III.
While I’ve always had a passion for technology in general, I’ve long been a big proponent of clean energy technologies as well. I’ve even taken the steps to install solar thermal (hot water), solar photovoltaic (electricity), and geothermal (heating/cooling) systems at my residence.
