Questar III’s Health and Safety Service is sponsoring a Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) for Schools training on March 6, 2012 at its Central Office in Schodack. The half-day training is intended for superintendents, business officials, supervisors of buildings and grounds and technology directors.
The workshop will teach attendees how to effectively prepare, respond, and recover from large scale incidents so that essential functions can be maintained and provided to the school community. The following video from the Owego Apalachin CSD is an unfortunate real-life example of what schools could face in the aftermath of such incidents.
Our COOP training will provide guidance and tools needed to:
- Prevent or mitigate loss of essential functions;
- Prepare to adapt to operational requirements in an emergency or crisis;
- Provide the ability to respond to a wide range of functional impacts;
- Define a process to recover and return to normal operations and restore the learning environment;
- Implement best management practices for record retention and archiving – an important topic for schools in light of the recent flooding events.
