Students from Questar III’s Introduction to Food Services program, located at Columbia-Greene Educational Center in Hudson, recently donated their time and cooking expertise to help a community cause.

Students prepared food for 200 people at a fundraising dinner sponsored by the Friends of the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson. The Italian-themed dinner, held on October 8, was a benefit for the ongoing effort to preserve the church’s large stained glass window that faces Warren Street. The window is 135 years old and in need of repair and restoration.

According to Rev. David McMillan, pastor at First Presbyterian, “This event is a great example of cooperation to preserve one of the historic icons of Warren Street”.

Food Services Instructor Chef James J. Rhoads agreed. “A hands-on community service, such as preparing for this dinner, helps out local hometown organizations and helps students recognize the value in helping others.”

Student Darryl Stevens from Hudson appreciated the opportunity to give back to his community. “It feels good to make food to help people. It makes me happy.”
