Questar III receives NYSERDA funding

Questar III’s Green Technologies and Renewable Energy program was recently awarded $50,000 in federal stimulus funding from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for the purchase of energy efficiency and renewable energy training equipment.

Students at Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center (CGEC) had the privilege to speak with Captain Kevin Calhoun, a retired New York City firefighter, who was one of the first responders during the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Students study agriculture

The first-ever Home Grown Business Challenge, a unique summer camp conceived by local educators, farmers and agribusiness advocates, ended its inaugural year with teams of students pitching their agricultural idea to a panel of real life venture capitalists/ “Shark Tank.” They were paired with local farmers and challenged to develop a product or service to generate additional revenue for a local farm.

Hudson LPN students graduate

Thirty-seven Questar III Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) students graduated in a ceremony at Hudson High School on July 3.

Teacher wins national award

Mike Knichel, an Academy for Information Technology (AIT) teacher at Questar III’s Columbia Greene Educational Center, received the Distinct Growth Award at the CISCO Networking Academy National Conference in San Jose, California.
