Questar III BOCES
Counselors host annual career day
More than 1,000 tenth and eleventh grade students from high schools in Columbia and Greene Counties attended the 28th Annual Career Day at the Columbia Greene Community College (CGCC) in Hudson on January 10. In addition, many Questar III BOCES staff members served as panelists in the various career forums.
D’Amico, a natural teacher
Questar III teacher Mary D’Amico will tell you she never had the life-long dream of becoming a teacher, but it seems as though teaching was something that just came naturally (and is now one of her greatest passions).
Hands-on prep for nursing success
Coming from a family of nurses, the decision to complete the Questar III BOCES’ Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program was a logical choice for Taylor Russell. Now currently enrolled in the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program based at Hudson High School, the 18-year-old Philmont native is learning the skills she needs to be successful in a high-demand nursing career.
QIII receives REDC award
Questar III BOCES has been awarded nearly $100,000 through Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s 2013 Regional Economic Development Council Awards to provide free or low-cost training to 30 long-term unemployed adult workers in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R), Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) and welding.
Healthy employees, healthy BOCES
Questar III State Aid Planning Specialist Steve Golas knew it was time to make a change in his lifestyle but just needed the motivation to do so.
When Questar III BOCES started the Win to Lose Challenge last fall, Steve decided this was his perfect opportunity. His goal was to not only lose weight (and keep it off) but also to eat healthier and establish a fitness routine.
