Students learn fire safety

In recognition of Fire Safety Week, students at Questar III BOCES’ George Washington School in Troy were greeted by fireman in their school’s gymnasium on October 12 to learn how to avoid fires and what to do in case a fire is started.

NYSAMS honors Questar III specialist

While Irene “Sam” Jovell has received many honors and awards over the years including seven G.E. STAR awards, two Capitol Business and Education Scholar Recognitions, and twice being named a Cornell University Merrill Presidential Scholar, her most recent induction into the New York State Mathematics Educators Hall of Fame is particularly special to her.

Questar III supports “rad” initiative

Questar III’s Wellness Committee organized employees to participate in the Color Me Rad 5K at the Altamont Fairgrounds in September. Runners began the race as pure as the driven snow in white t-shirts and were color bombed throughout the race leaving their clothes, faces and bodies as colorful as a rainbow.

Questar III Deputy Superintendent Gladys Cruz recently appeared on Channel 13 to discuss changes related to the Common Core Learning Standards.

PBA honors CTE teacher

Criminal Justice teacher Amy Gillett has worked at Questar III’s Rensselaer Educational Center (REC) in Troy for the past ten years.

Just recently, she was honored by the Troy Police Department with the Peter J. Magnetto Memorial Gold Shield Award.
