Students dance ‘under the stars’

On April 12, after weeks of hard work and planning, the students in the Questar III Achieving Individual Milestones (AIM) at Ichabod Crane High School danced the night away at their very own prom at the Kinderhook Elks Lodge along with more than 60 other students.

‘Apple Camp’ for teachers

More and more teachers are integrating laptops and tablet computers – such as Apple’s iPad – into their instruction to increase the 21st century learning and engagement that students require. Questar III BOCES will offer a summer series of training on various Apple software to help teachers effectively utilize the technology.

Strong passes the baton

Sue Strong, a school counselor at Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center for the past 15 years, will retire this month. Recently, Strong has been working with her replacement, Questar III Communications Specialist Caitlin Dederick, to prepare for the changing of the guards.

Cornell Labor-Relations program

Questar III BOCES has partnered with Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations to offer a three-part Labor Relations program designed to enhance the ability and skills of public school managers, supervisors, administrators and business officials operating within a Union environment.

Team ‘Mind, Body, Spirit’ for the win

The results are in for the most recent Questar III Weight Loss Challenge, and the winning team is “Mind, Body, Spirit” from the main office losing a total of 3.83 percent of their body weight.

AMCP honors Questar III, districts

The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) recently honored Questar III BOCES for the third consecutive year. Questar III won seven Hermes Creative Awards as part of an international competition sponsored by the AMCP.

Hispanic youth attend leadership conference

On March 22-24, 2014, 206 Hispanic students from high schools across New York State traveled to participate in the 24th Annual Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PR/HYLI). The overall purpose of this Institute is to develop an in-depth knowledge of the NYS legislative process and develop leadership skills of Latino/Hispanic Youth.
