Students learn about nutrition

After six weeks of nutrition lessons with Reynolds, Nutrition Program Educator from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County, the students in Questar III’s Achieving Individual Milestones (AIM) program located in Goff Middle School can easily identify the Minute Maid as a fruit.

2014 Odyssey teams advance

At the Region 4 Odyssey of the Mind Tournament held Saturday, March 8, at Rensselaer City School District, students were judged on their creative musical and theatrical demonstrations to real-life situations as well as their ability to come up with creative, on-the-spot solutions during the “spontaneous” competition.

Science teachers to conduct research

On Friday, March 7, secondary school science teachers from Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene Counties will convene at Questar III BOCES to learn how they can participate in a Summer Science Research Program modeled after the Columbia University Summer Research Program for School Science Teachers that has operated for 25 years.

Students prepare for an Odyssey

Questar III’s Regional Odyssey of the Mind tournament is being held Saturday, March 8 at Rensselaer City School District. The tournament consists of 91 teams from schools in Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene counties – the largest tournament the BOCES has ever organized.

Chef receives ProStart Award

Culinary Arts teacher Chef Peter Desmond from Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center (CGEC) was recently honored with the ProStart Educator Excellence Award.

Students network at HVCC

On January 18, three students from Questar III’s Academy for Information Technology (AIT) program in Hudson had the opportunity to visit Hudson Valley Community College and work with college students to disassemble, reassemble and network a lab equipment rack controlling more than 60 devices.

Preparing for takeoff

Coming from a family of pilots, it’s no surprise Hoosic Valley High School senior Dan McLaughlin has an interest in flying planes. When he told his guidance counselor he wanted to pursue it as a career, they immediately recommended the Aviation program through Questar III BOCES.
