The Region 4 Odyssey of the Mind Tournament for schools in Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene counties will be held March 8 at Rensselaer City School District. With 91 teams registered, the Questar III Odyssey presenters are looking for volunteers to lend a hand with everything from parking to merchandise sales.
Sarah’s Sisters will hold an open house on Tuesday, February 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Esteves School of Education on the Russell Sage College campus in Troy.
On January 27, more than 100 area business people convened at Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center to discuss curriculum and work-based learning opportunities for students in career and technical education (CTE) programs.
More than 1,000 tenth and eleventh grade students from high schools in Columbia and Greene Counties attended the 28th Annual Career Day at the Columbia Greene Community College (CGCC) in Hudson on January 10. In addition, many Questar III BOCES staff members served as panelists in the various career forums.

Saturday, Jan. 25 at Shenendehowa High School East from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Wednesday, February 5 at Rensselaer City School District from 6 – 8 p.m.
Questar III teacher Mary D’Amico will tell you she never had the life-long dream of becoming a teacher, but it seems as though teaching was something that just came naturally (and is now one of her greatest passions).
Coming from a family of nurses, the decision to complete the Questar III BOCES’ Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program was a logical choice for Taylor Russell. Now currently enrolled in the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program based at Hudson High School, the 18-year-old Philmont native is learning the skills she needs to be successful in a high-demand nursing career.
Questar III BOCES has been awarded nearly $100,000 through Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s 2013 Regional Economic Development Council Awards to provide free or low-cost training to 30 long-term unemployed adult workers in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R), Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) and welding.
